4th International Open Ubiquitous City Seminar in Oulu on May 28, 2012

Already the fourth in the series of Open Ubiquitous City Seminars will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 9:00-13:00 at the Main City Library, Pakkala Hall, Kaarlenväylä 3, Oulu, Finland.

The seminar features distinguished international experts addressing various themes in ubiquitous computing and urban informatics. It also provides an update of the Open Ubiquitous Oulu.

Professor Aaron Quigley will address the information visualisation for ubicomp data in his speech. Quigley is the Chair of Human Computer Interaction in the School of Computer Science, University of St Andrews, Scotland. He directs the St Andrews Computer Human Interaction research group.

Dr. Keith Cheverst will focus on the theme of supporting community through interactive public displays. Cheverst is Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, UK.

The talk given by Dr. Alejandro (Alex) Jaimes will deal with human-centered computing in practice. Jaimes is Senior Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research where he manages the Social Media Engagement group, which contributes to several products including Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Clues, and Yahoo! Image Search.

Professor Timo Ojala will brief the audience on the latest news from the Open Ubiquitous Oulu. Ojala is the leader of the MediaTeam Oulu Research Group at the University of Oulu, Finland and the leader of the multidisciplinary Urban Interactions Research Program.

The audience is able to ask questions from the speakers at the end of the seminar in a special Q&A Session.
