RealUbi open source code

The MediaTeam Oulu research group at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering publishes the RealUbi open source code. The main objective of the RealUbi project was to create the open urban service network and to develop its feasibility with prototype services. Further, the RealUbi project produced prototype applications demonstrating the capabilities of the underlying infrastructure. RealUbi project published open source software libraries as means for stimulating user-driven open innovation.

RealUbi open source code is part of the unique ubiquitous infrastructure developed in the UBI (UrBan Interactions) Program. Infrastructure enables new type of interaction between citizens and the city. The elements of the UBI Infrastructure create smart urban space where technology has been used to integrate the physical world and social and virtual spaces into a seamless entity.

RealUbi open source code has been tested in the real life setting by real users in the UBI Program 2010 and 2011.

RealUbi is one of the projects of the Tekes program Ubicom. RealUbi started in October 2009 and concluded in the end of the year 2011. The project was financed by Aalto University, Bluegiga Technologies, City of Oulu, Galaxo, Nokia, Palko Interactive, Pohjolan Mylly, Pro Display, Sensinode, Symbicon, Tekes and University of Oulu. Project was implemented by the MediaTeam Oulu and Intelligent Systems research groups of the University of Oulu and Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

Further information on the software is available in the publications of the RealUbi project
