The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Oulu, Finland, is hiring a
Postdoctoral Researcher on a fixed-term contract to work on urban mobility analysis.

The successful candidate will work within the Urban Interactions research program (http://www.ubioulu.fi). One of the aims of the program is to analyse the rich mobility traces captured by Oulu’s city-wide WiFi, Bluetooth and traffic infrastructure to understand better city-scale movement and develop ubiquitous computing applications.

The successful candidate will work on the analysis of urban mobility traces. This role requires a strong mathematical background, experience with hands-on development and programming, and familiarity with urban mobility analysis, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing. Understanding of statistics, database programming, and symbolic computation are a benefit. Knowledge of Matlab/R is a plus. You will be expected to develop an analysis system that captures, infers and models individual and group mobility patterns on a city scale.
