UBI Challenge: Timeline

The UBI-challenge comprises of six phases with the following tentative deadlines:

0. 1st International UBI Summer School 2010 in Oulu (May 31 - June 4, 2010)

In addition to researcher training and networking, the summer school provides interested parties with a prime opportunity to familiarize themselves with the challenge site.

1. Submission of a written entry (Oct 31, 2010)

Interested parties submit their proposals with a given document template.

2. Jury selects finalists (Nov 2010)

Selection criteria have not been fully nailed down yet, but they will address aspects such as novelty, feasibility and sustainability.

3. Finalist deploy their applications in Oulu (June 2011)

Finalists are supported with financial and technical assistance.

4. Collection of empirical evidence (Jul-Aug 2011)

Finalists collect quantitative and qualitative data on their applications.

Jury's Oulu-based members evaluate the applications in situ.

5. Reporting (Sep 2011)

Finalists report their findings with a given document template.

6. Jury nominates award recipients (Oct 2011)
